The intersection of the secular and spirit worlds in Japan and beyond is ripe for encounters between humans and otherworldly entities. And sometimes those encounters lead to disappearances, abductions, or something more. This panel explores the idea of kamikakushi- literally being stolen by the gods themselves- and how it serves as a narrative formula for literature, media, fairy tales, and storytelling.
